The Singapore Exchange is  pleased to invite our members to a dedicated SGX Securities information session on Singapore Depository Receipts (SDR) on 22^nd May 2023. The SDR will be launched on 30^th May 2023.

Introducing SDRs
SDR are instruments representing beneficial interest in an underlying security listed on an overseas exchange and are issued for trading on the securities market of the Singapore Exchange by an intermediary, SDR Issuer, on an unsponsored basis. SDR will enable SGX investors to expand investment horizons to overseas listed companies in a simple and cost-efficient manner. It expands the product offerings available for the investment community in Singapore.

Launch of Thai Underlying SDRs
The first batch of SDR will be launched on 30th May 2023. They will be on Thai listed securities, under the Singapore-Thailand  DR Linkage between SGX and SET announced in 2021. Thailand is the second-largest economy in Southeast Asia, with the Asian Development Bank forecasting an annual GDP growth rate of 3-4% for the next few years, presenting attractive investment opportunities for investors. Through SDR, SGX investors will benefit from the ease of accessing Thai blue chip companies via local broker arrangements in local currency.
